ST. VINCENT cds used Grenadine island of MAYREAU
NEW DISCOVERY dated A/AP 9 02 on QV 1d Keyplate (SG.68).
Nothing is known for MAYREAU period C/NO 21 01 to MAYREAU B.W.I C/DE 18 14. Kingstown at this time was using a very clean ST. VINCENT cds with the apex of the "A" code inside left of the "N" of VINCENT. Concurrently another ST. VINCENT cds is in play with apex of "A" code between "N" and "C" of VINCENT. The first period Mayreau almost always had the strikes in the full upright position, and this characteristic ST. VINCENT is immediately recognised for its full upright OILY strikes. Seven copies are now recorded A/AP 9 02 (SG.68), A/JY 4 02 (SG.67, 55% full), A/JY 31 02 (SG.68, full extremely oily in the inverted position, perhaps the stamp was placed upside down), A/SP 4 02 (SG.68), A/NO 3 02 (SG.77), A/NO 20 02 (SG.77), A/A- 1 03 (SG.77). These would all pay an internal rate to the mainland. There seems to be no alternative than to suggest these oily strikes attributed to use on the Grenadines island of Mayreau.

SEYCHELLES forgery on CEYLON stamp:
1903 QV 2r.25 purple & green (SG.356), a forgery in issued colours believed to have been cleverly executed by the Belgian forger Dr Julian Smeets by bleaching out the design of used copies of the 1886 Ceylon QV 5c dull purple (SG.195) to a give a "blank" CA wmk P.14 stamp; only immediately given away by the indelible ink BADULLA (Ceylon) cds dated SP 9 07 which could not be removed. Smeets work on Seychelles issues rarely encountered.
