TITCHFIELD (two differing dates showing flexibility of handstamp), Jamaica postal history
1903 cover from The University of Chicago with 5c franking pmk'd Chicago APR 5 1903 to Prof. D.S. Johnson PhD, Chester Vale, Gordon Town, Jamaica variously forwarded with twelve differing backstamps including purple boxed TITCHFIELD (TRD 11) for both 16.4.03 and 17.4.03 (showing movement of "J" under "TC"), cover with corner fault.
William Fawcett was the Director of Public Gardens and Plantations in Jamaica from 1887 to 1908, and having returned to Britain was the co-author of the first volumes of Flora of Jamaica.

The East Asiatic Company was founded in 1897 in Copenhagen by Hans Niel Andersen, initially to operate shipping services between Copenhagen, Bangkok and the Far East. In 1907 the "St. Croix" was sold to the Hamburg America Line.

1951 underpaid 1/6d airmail rate cover from W.J. Tomlinson, Solicitor (flap) to a firm of solicitors in Liverpool with KG6 1d, 2d, 2 x 6d pmk'd SAV-LA MAR OC 27 51 with purple boxed "RETURNED FOR/ADDITIONAL POSTAGE" appended 3d in blue crayon with further KG6 1d, 2d pmk'd SAV-LA MAR NO 2 51.
Regulations required that Air Mail was fully prepaid. Underpaid mail was returned to the sender if possible rather than forwarding by surface mail.
