A very rare TWICE RETURNED FOR POSTAGE cover.

1937 Canadian National Steamships printed flap cover with sender address from Inverurie Hotel, Paget Parish to Detroit Michigan with CANADA KGV 1c pair, 3c tied str. line "PAQUEBOT" with Hamilton 17 JLY 1937 along base, superb magenta 3-line R.M.S. "LADY RODNEY" cachet.

1882 stampless cover to Warin, Mecklenburg (Western Pomeramia), Germany marked along top "p. N. German Bark Alma Elisabeth/Received on bord near the Equator" landed with FALMOUTH SHIP LETTER cds dated AP 19 72 and rated "5" in blue crayon, side flap opens to display further FALMOUTH SHIP LETTER AP 19 72 cds overstruck red SHIP LETTER LONDON A/AP 20 72 as it travelled in the overnight sealed ship letter bag with turquoise VERVIERE (Belgium) 20 4 transit, a little sea water staining at left.
A lovely research item.

(signed)" handstamp.
Worldwide covers are often noted as received in bad condition by respective GPO's, but not marked as sent in good condition!

NEW SOUTH WALES postal history
1876 cover to New Haven, Connecticut, USA with QV 6d pale lilac pmk'd Sydney B/JA 14 76 with handstruck red circled "PAID ALL" (with fleurons applied Sydney) showing San Francisco FEB 14 transit, no arrival backstamp.
The Postal Convention of FE 1 1874 between USA and NSW established the use of PAID ALL handstamps at Sydney on mail to San Francisco. Queensland and Victoria did the same when their conventions became effective in 1876 and 1879. Their use continued until the Colonies joined the UPU in 1891.

New Walton handbook unlisted (Type 711 group, see Page 120) dated II MR 49 on stampless OHMS GPO Freetown Reply portion to Ernest B. Blango, Dillet Street (named after former postmaster Joseph Dillet), Freetown with pencilled "Try Government Medical Store" with red OFFICIAL PAID (035.99) dated both */7 MR 49 and */10 MR 49 alongside address panel.
This instrument has continuous solid line after SCHED No and two examples of the same instrument can be viewed on the West Africa Study Circle website on Page 7 of the Frank Walton 1949 audit book.

1952 cover with KG6 1c, 2 x 2c pmk'd Georgetown */7 JA 52 to the Philaletic (sic) Traders Society, London with 24 John Adams Street address added, re-directed Tottenham Court Road, and finally directed to The Strand, rare use of red handstamp "DELAYED THROUGH BEING/POSTED IN A LETTER BOX/FOR 'LONDON' LETTERS./PLEASE ADVISE SENDER" added in London, backstamped London FE 18, and FE 19 (twice) cancels.
