1875 cover with red crayon "Registered" to Mead & Son, London with 8c pink, 24c green (4d reg., 1/- postage) pmk'd "A03" and additionally tied red London reg. oval dated 28 AU 75 with blue crayon "51" changed "34", reverse superb intact BRITISH GUIANA POST OFFICE GEORGETOWN wax seal with Georgetown AU 15 75 d/r and London AU 28 75 arrival. (Holcombe cert.), Ex BRASSLER, VIVIEN SUSSEX, FREELAND.
For the 1860-75 'Ship' issues period only two covers are recorded sent registered, the other locally addressed dated JY 9 69 to the Lunatic Asylum, Port Canje, Berbice. A third cover dated DE 7 70 sent with 24c green to Edinburgh was forced into compulsory registration on reaching London as marked "Coin".

SPARTA, British Guiana postmark
(T+H Type 2, but no examples recorded when the handbook went to print), very fine dated APR 4 1880 on 1876 2c orange CC wmk (SG.127), exhibition quality.
The discovery example (magnificent full upright) was found in the Derek Nathan collection dated MAY 24 1880. A third full strike dated APR 4 82 facing 3 o'clock is recorded, plus a very poor 70% full smudgy example showing clear "S" and weak "P" dated MAY 19 1880 (sold for 65).

1860 1c pale rose (SG.29), a unique horizontal strip of four pmk'd by four delightful strikes Leguan Island code L/FE 7 1861 on piece. A stunning item Ex DALE LICHTENSTEIN.
Probably only a handful of classic VILLAGE multiples for all of the BWI group have survived period 1860-1885 (with exception Jamaica numerals), and later QV strips and blocks (1890's) having been soaked off piece and broken up.

EARLIEST ENTIRE TO EUROPE AFTER THE APRIL 15 1852 FIRST ISSUES PLACED ON SALE
Entire headed "Barbados 26th April 52" to Messrs. Newton Gordon Copart & Co, Madeira marked "Favored by Capt Chambers", no postal markings, docketted as Rec'd 17 June 1852.
Letter reads: "We beg to introduce to you Capt Chambers of the British Brig Emanuel Boucher who takes to your Island some return Emigrants from Demerary, would you assist him on obtaining an onboard xxx and favour him with your advice should he apply to you, we shall consider it a favour conferred on dear Sirs, Yr ob Servant Barow Drummett".

"On the road, Georgetown, Demerara" ppc with Br. Guiana 3c, 12c off-loaded with PAQUEBOT TRINIDAD FE 2 37 d/rings.
Text reads "Half the people are blacks & half Indians (Hindus) - The Indians are surly, & the blacks cheerful - You call them "coloured gentlemen" - Nigger is a term not allowed".
