BRITISH GUIANA exhibition item Ex DALE LICHTENSTEIN
1860 1c pale rose (SG.29), a unique horizontal strip of four pmk'd by four delightful strikes Leguan Island code L/FE 7 1861 on piece. A stunning item Ex DALE LICHTENSTEIN.
Probably only a handful of the really classic period VILLAGE multiples for all of the BWI group have survived period 1860-1885 (with exception Jamaica numerals), later QV strips and blocks (1890's) mostly soaked off piece and broken up.

BERBICE dbl-arc, British Guiana postal history
1841 wrapper to the Revd A. Tidman, London with BERBICE DE 31 1841 seriffed dbl-arc (T.6, ERD) rated 1/- (last date of quarter ounce rate, introduced JA 1 1840) unpaid with FE 18 1842 arrival and docketted "acknowledged 1 March 1842". Exhibition quality (the only example dated 1841) and possibly the only example carried by the old Falmouth sailing packets.
The last old sailing packet "Seagull" landed mail fom Jamaica at Falmouth on 3 March 1842. The packet rated was reduced to 1/- per half ounce on 1 January 1842.

1865 unique O.H.M.S. cover to Copenhagen, Denmark with spectacular GOVERNMENT OF ST. VINCENT embossed flap showing two strikes of the red ink PAID AT ST. VINCENT crowned circle (latest use) with SAINT-VINCENT A/JU 06 66 despatch cds alongside, reverse 30 6 arrival. A wonderful exhibition item.

1872 cover front to New York City, USA with QV 6d Plate 11 pmk'd A/MALTA/JU 13 72 "A25" duplex with superb 2-line "PAID-ONLY/TO ENGLAND" showing the "5(d)" shortfall for 11d rate in black, red London Paid JU 24 72 (crossed out by 5 black lines) transit.

EXHIBITION COVER SHORT-LIVED 14 CORNER DOTS GREAT BRITAIN QV 1d LILAC to BARBADOS
1881 cover with five copies GB QV 1d Venetian red and seven copies GB QV 1d lilac (SG.166,170) pmk'd London S.W/32 duplex dated AU 2 81 to Mrs. Belfield, Chelston, Barbados being the penultimate 1/- rate prior switching to the 4d U.P.U. rate on SP 1 1881, backstamped BARBADOES AU 18 1881 dbl-arc arrival clear of largely missing flap. A spectacular exhibition cover for the short band of use 14 dots in each corner GB QV 1d lilac.
The 1d Venetian red stamps do not have the Orbs watermark error Cat.£27,000 apiece.

10 (used Brighton), TASMANIA postal history
1861 cover "per Tasmania" to James S. Harrison, 22 Charlotte Place, Sydney, New South Wales with Chalon 2d slate-green pair (uneven setting), single superbly pmk'd Brighton "10" numerals with red PRE-PAID 4 SP 1861 alongside, reverse Sydney C/SP 9 61 arrival.
James Start Harrison (1837-1902) arrived Sydney in January 1849 with his parents after a voyage of 157 days on board the Penyard Park and eventually took up the profession of an accountant working with the new partnership formed 1861 of Alexander Learmonth & Samuel Dickinson, merchant and commission agents. He is best known as a philanthropist and local newspapers capture his interests and service given to the Sydney Ragged Schools, Sydney City Mission, Sydney Female Refuge.

13 used Kingston, TASMANIA postal history (Ex TINSLEY, BOMBIERI, BLAKE, CHARTWELL)
1864 drop letter mailed within Kingston with Chalon 1d brick-red imperforate superbly tied "13" addressed Mr. Dixon, Browns River with postmaster's manuscript "Kingston 11-1-64" alongside, no reverse markings. Ex TINSLEY, BOMBIERI, BLAKE, CHARTWELL.
The settlement known as Browns River had its name changed to Kingston by the Governor of Tasmania in 1851, so the postmaster followed this edict which was not acknowledged until a Government Gazette in 1881. It was then changed to Kingston Beach in 1900.

JAMAICA USED AT BRITISH POST OFFICES ABROAD
The currently unique trio of “C51” (used St. Thomas) on QV 1d Pine wmk, the unrecorded on GB used abroad “D60” (whereabouts of use unknown, RPS certificate) on QV 6d Pine wmk, and “E88” (used Colon) on QV 2d CC wmk. Similar to the accepted use of Trinidad stamps at Ciudad Bolivar, it is now thought that Jamaica stamps may have had permitted or accepted use on correspondence back to the island – see Foster Page 31. boxed type of the 14, 15, 16 Tobago rural numeral series on Trinidad 1904 1d Britannia (SG.134). Only two excellent and two poor strikes known.
Numeral figures being 8mm high, not to be confused with the Trinidad Type 0.4 "18" used Princes Town which has numeral figures 7mm high.

ST. LUCIA postmark on Great Britain QV 4d dull green (SG.192) stamp
dated C/JY 10 87 paying the correct UPU rate between UK and St. Lucia pmk'd on arrival from R.M.S.P. mailboat, or as loose mail on arrival from mail posted on board a British vessel.
Exceptionally rare use and a probably unique display item.
