EARLIEST DATED 2-LINE BERBICE, British Guiana postal history
BERBICE, 6th/Jan. 1811. mostly on reverse flap (damaged at left) with red BRISTOL 4 MA 4 1811 with 12 below arrival on entire headed New Amsterdam Dec 29th 1810 to Mrs Fraser c/o Dr. Chisholme, York Place, Clifton re-addressed 2 Laura Place Bath rated 1/11 changed 2/3.
This is currently the earliest dated BERBICE 2-line handstamp (BERBICE with comma measures 26mm, width from top to bottom 13mm), rather surprisingly this sits between the two known strikes of the larger undated BERBICE. (32 x 5mm) recorded for AU 28 1810 and FE 3 1811

Thought to be a unique GB used abroad combination (use of 8d rate to France is confirmed by double rate entire (1/4d) from same correspondence bearing GB QV 4d, pair QV 6d dated OC 10 1859.
