(T+H 3a) complete printed "Market Report, Demerara City of Georgetown" dated 6 September 1871 to Messrs. Brown Bros., Philadelphia with 2c orange tied red ink "1d A03" accountancy. alongside "Due 2" in black ink, some internal splitting. Ex DUPONT

BRITISH GUIANA exhibition item Ex DALE LICHTENSTEIN
1860 1c pale rose (SG.29), a unique horizontal strip of four pmk'd by four delightful strikes Leguan Island code L/FE 7 1861 on piece. A stunning item Ex DALE LICHTENSTEIN.
Probably only a handful of the really classic period VILLAGE multiples for all of the BWI group have survived period 1860-1885 (with exception Jamaica numerals), later QV strips and blocks (1890's) mostly soaked off piece and broken up.

1875 cover with red crayon "Registered" to Mead & Son, London with 8c pink, 24c green (4d reg., 1/- postage) pmk'd "A03" and additionally tied red London reg. oval dated 28 AU 75 with blue crayon "51" changed "34", reverse superb intact BRITISH GUIANA POST OFFICE GEORGETOWN wax seal with Georgetown AU 15 75 d/r and London AU 28 75 arrival. (Holcombe cert.), Ex BRASSLER, VIVIEN SUSSEX, FREELAND.
For the 1860-75 'Ship' issues period only two covers are recorded sent registered, the other locally addressed dated JY 9 69 to the Lunatic Asylum, Port Canje, Berbice. A third cover dated DE 7 70 sent with 24c green to Edinburgh was forced into compulsory registration on reaching London as marked "Coin".

VREED-EN-HOOP, British Guiana to SENEGAL, West Africa postal history
1930 reg. opened-out cover marked "Per F.M.S. Biskra via France" to M'Bour, Senegal with KGV 2c, 4c, 6c pmk'd Vreed-En-Hoop */29 MY 30 with boxed "INCONNU" and "RETOUR/A L'ENVOYEUR and purple NON RECLAME/NOT CALLED FOR (style unlisted by Proud) with re-direction to Dakar and numerous transit datestamps. Exotic destination.

BERBICE dbl-arc, British Guiana postal history
1841 wrapper to the Revd A. Tidman, London with BERBICE DE 31 1841 seriffed dbl-arc (T.6, ERD, showing inverted figure "1" in year) rated 1/- (last date of quarter ounce rate, introduced JA 1 1840) unpaid with FE 18 1842 arrival and docketted "acknowledged 1 March 1842". Exhibition quality (the only example dated 1841) and possibly the only example carried by the old Falmouth sailing packets.
The last old sailing packet "Seagull" landed mail fom Jamaica at Falmouth on 3 March 1842. The packet rate was reduced to 1/- per half ounce on 1 January 1842.

1925 reg. cover with full letter from W.A. Husbands on Victory Philatelic Society letterhead paper to Queenstown, Cape Province, South Africa with KGV 1c x 2, 2c x 2, 2c War Tax, 5c lightly pmk'd Registration */14 JY 25 cds, reverse with BRITISH EMPIRE EXHIBITION label tied QUEENSTOWN R.L.S. 14 AUG 25 d/ring.
The label is perforated both vertical sides and shows broken top to "H" in "BRITISH".

Only one other GB QV 1d, 6d combination is recorded dated JA 23 1860 ex Paramaribo via Demerara to Dunkerque.

Thought to be a unique GB used abroad combination (use of 8d rate to France is confirmed by double rate entire (1/4d) from same correspondence bearing GB QV 4d, pair QV 6d dated OC 10 1859.
